BEDA 2024 Position Paper
The Bureau of European Design Associations BEDA represents over 50 publicly funded design organisations, professional and trade associations that are promoting design in over 28 European countries, including Swiss Design Association SDA.
With the release of the 2024 Position Paper «Design in Europe – for sustainable growth and prosperity», BEDA highlights that the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) are a vital sector that contribute significantly to the European economy, representing approximately 3.95% of EU value added and employing around 8 million people. The CCIs ecosystem is a powerhouse of innovation and growth.
Notably, over 99.9% of these firms are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), underlining the sector’s dynamic and entrepreneurial spirit. Within this dynamic ecosystem, design plays a crucial role as the very “engine” of this industry.
