As the climate continues to change, many people are also exposed to changes in their living environment. One of the strongest factors here is increasing warming, which leads to night-time heat and sleepless nights. However, certain creatures have long since adapted to their hot environment. Based on the structure of the skin of an African elephant and cooling techniques from ancient Egypt, evaplox was developed as part of a final thesis. By using evaporative cooling, the air is cooled without using electricity. Evaplox is placed on the windowsill under the open window. The tray is filled with water, which the cooling element absorbs. The water constantly evaporates through the porous material and thus cools the incoming air. On hot nights, the tray should therefore be filled to the brim.
