NAKASHIMA STYLE TABLE / UPCYCLE
Kunde: Private Client
Rechte: aldesso AG
Zeitraum: 2019 - 2019

My client had a very large Redwood Table that he had purchase while living in California. It was simply a slice of a trunk which he had used as a coffee table. It was impressive in size but too large for comfort. He asked my thoughts on what could be done to preserve the beauty of the wood. Since he had a few original works by Nakashima, I suggested to emulate the extraordinary artist and make a table inspired by his designs, meaning that there would be live edges. In addition, all offcuts of the main top were reused to become the structure underneath. The synthetic lacquer was sanded off and an oil and wax finish was used to reveal the extraordinary natural beauty of the wood that had been hidden all these years.
