REFRAME designed the JURA A8, JURA’s slimmest fully automatic coffee machine: 19 cm wide, launched in 2026, made for smaller city apartments. JURA has a clear design language and decades of product history. The task was to move that language forward without losing what its customers value about it. The question we worked on with JURA: what will still feel right in ten years? Much of the work went into the parts people touch and see up close: the cup platform, the cup grill and the crystal-inspired bean container. The few seconds before the first coffee, setting the cup down, fingers on the surface, were designed as carefully as the overall form. The result is new, and it is unmistakably JURA. One note: in English you will be the only industrial design member on the site writing in English about a JURA machine, with Büttler’s ENA 8 entry in German two clicks away. Fine if your audience is international; if it is Swiss buyers and jurors, the German version does more work.
